After missing her first event of the day, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex stepped out to attend a reception hosted by Prime Minister Scott Morrison at The Pavilion Restaurant in Sydney on Sunday Australia time.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on a 16-day tour of Australasia.

She was due to attend a cycling event on Sunday morning for the Invictus Games - the tournament for wounded military veterans which Harry founded - but he turned up on his own.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019", Kensington Palace said.

The couple were due to meet with Indigenous elders, but they made a decision to cut back Meghan's schedule for the next couple of days.

The royal couple will travel on Monday to Queensland's Fraser Island on the north-east coast of Australia before leaving for Tonga and Fiji later in the week.

Harry and Meghan had a very late night after the Invictus Games opening ceremony was delayed due to an electrical storm.

On Friday, they will return to Sydney for the final days of the Invictus Games before flying home via New Zealand.

The 73-year-old has said that he was waiting to cross the border in his vehicle when he heard the royal baby announcement on a local radio station.

Prince Harry has praised the dedication of those taking part in the Invictus Games for injured service personnel.

Despite her upcoming plans, Meghan has been "feeling fine", according to a source.

Next Saturday, the Duchess herself is expected to make her first Invictus speech at the closing ceremony, as she continues to find her feet as a member of the Royal family.

At last year's Invictus Games in Toronto, Markle was in attendance, but in a separate section from her future husband.

Ahead of Harry's speech, Kensington Palace tweeted a photo of him rehearsing for an audience of one: Meghan.

The royal couple later visited Sydney Harbour's Cockatoo Island, where Harry delighted some children by joining them in playing with remote-controlled cars.

At the time, he was greeting the onlookers by himself as Meghan was resting because of the pregnancy when a woman said: 'I hope it's a girl!'
