Ford opens MI plant to relaunch Ranger pickup, Bronco SUV

"Ranger is designed for today's midsize truck buyer who blends city living with off-the-grid adventure", Ford said in a statement.

The Ranger and Bronco are high-profile examples of Ford's line of vehicles, and the new facility signals the company's intent to stay focused on the American appetite for pickup trucks and SUVs.

Speaking of Ranger Raptor, Berry said that they are very excited about the new benchmark: "The Ranger Raptor is an exciting and very important model for us, as it pioneers an entirely new dimension for the pick-up or bakkie market and represents the first Ford Performance model to be produced in South Africa, destined for export to customers throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa", Said Berry. The production is a part of the Tooling Trials (TT) build-up phase with a high-tech assembly line and an upgraded version.

Ford's Michigan Assembly is a 369-acre plant in Wayne, Michigan.

Ford is transforming their product lineup, building their truck, SUV, and commercial vehicle momentum.

The 369-acre plant was built in 1957 and made Ford's small Focus auto until earlier this year, when it was closed for retooling for the Ranger assembly lines.

Ford demonstrated the capability of the new Ranger during its introductory launch party. "The Ranger is back home in the US, and our employees at Michigan Assembly Plant are thrilled to be able to build it for our customers".

"We're excited by the growth we're seeing in the midsize pickup segment", said Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president of the Americas, as he addressed reporters and Ford employees outside the Wayne plant.
