Russian Federation 'alarmed' by possible US-manipulated drone attack

The U.S. was behind a drone attack on Russian military bases in Syria this January, Russia's Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said on Thursday.

"So manual control is not a farmer of some sort, but a normal, equipped with modern appliances Poseidon-8. It goes without saying nobody should have any doubts that our military specialists will carry out proper analysis and make the required conclusions", Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said according to the Russian News Agency. "It undertook manual control".

On Jan. 6, thirteen drones attacked Russian-controlled Hmeimim airbase and Tartus naval base in Syria.

The official also said that the US had supplied Syrian militants with equipment that allowed them to access radio frequencies operated by Russian aviation.

It's the first time Moscow directly accuses the United States of coordinating an attack on Russian assets in Syria.

The Kremlin said on Thursday that it was very alarmed by the report from the Russian Defense Ministry. Meanwhile, the defense Ministry stressed that the solutions used by militants, could be obtained only from technologically advanced countries and warned of the danger of recurrence of such attacks in any country of the world.

Peskov said he can not rule out that the incident may be discussed at the forthcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump preliminarily scheduled to take place in Paris on November 11.
