Amazon Is Offering Free Shipping For All

You don't need to be an Amazon Prime member to get free shipping this holiday season.

Amazon's free-shipping promotion begins today, and while the company doesn't provide a firm end date, it sure sounds like this will be running all the way through the holiday season, possibly right up until the end of the year.

Last month, Walmart added free two-day shipping for Marketplace items to its previous offer of free two-day shipping for purchases over $35.

Instead of the usual $25 order minimum before shipping and taxes, Amazon is offering free shipping almost all orders shipped and sold by Amazon.

Amazon already offered free 2-day shipping to Amazon Prime subscribers, which is why Target made free 2-day shipping for its customers. Amazon spent more than $7 billion on shipping in the fourth quarter previous year, before subtracting the shipping fees it collects from customers.

Amazon's response is to make its own shipping offer for the holidays.

Walmart offers free two-day shipping on sales of more than $35, while Amazon's free delivery-window guarantees are limited to members of its $119-a-year Prime program. Sales in November and December - excluding automobiles, gasoline and restaurants - are expected to increase between 4.3 and 4.8 percent over 2017 for a total of $717.45 billion to $720.89 billion, according to figures from the National Retail Federation.

Mobile shoppers, can also find where their parcels are in seconds in the Amazon App, use camera search to quickly find the items they want by pointing at an item or barcode, and never miss a deal by setting "Watch-a-Deal" alerts.
