Chief Justice Roberts Makes Rare Criticism of Trump After 'Obama Judge' Remark

Trump's administration has argued that he has the executive power to curb immigration in the name of national security - a power he invoked after taking office previous year with a controversial ban on travelers from several mostly Muslim countries.

It's not unusual for those challenging a president's policies to sue in courts they consider likely to back their claims.

Things are not going well for the USA president. "The judges are going to have to get together or Congress is going to have to get together and stop it because they're taking advantage of our country". Before he took office, conservative groups tended to bring challenges to Obama-era policies in Texas, part of the conservative-leaning 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. "The 9th Circuit, everybody knows that it's totally out of control".

On Tuesday, Trump lashed out at the judge's ruling, calling it a "disgrace".

He followed this by declaring the 9th Circuit "too big" and adding there was talk of breaking it up. It's a awful thing when judges take over your protective services, when they tell you how to protect the border.

Chief Justice Roberts' Supreme Court colleague Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been a far more outspoken critic of Mr Trump. The ruling was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. "This is an untenable situation some White House sources say through the chief justice because he can't respond in the same way the president can on Twitter day in, day out".

It is the first time the chief justice has spoken against Mr Trump.

Trump in a tweet wrote that Justice Anthony Kennedy "should be proud of himself for sticking to his principles, in light of Justice Roberts' bull--!"

Roberts has not commented on Trump before, even though Trump as a candidate called Roberts a "disaster" because of his vote with the court's liberals to uphold the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare.

The Chief Justice of the United States, John Roberts, has told President Donald Trump that there are no Obama judges or Trump judges and instead what he calls "an extraordinary group of dedicated judges". In a rare and public rebuke of President Trump, Justice Roberts made a decision to gaslight the American public by assuring them of an independent judiciary.

In 2016, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told the New York Times that she couldn't " imagine what the country would be - with Donald Trump as our president", later remarking that her late husband would have suggested that they move to New Zealand if that happened. He especially criticized judges on the 9th Circuit.

The startling series of events - which showed a bolder side of Roberts - demonstrated just how much Trump's relationship with the third branch has devolved.

In a tweet after that ruling, Trump wrote, "Congratulations to John Roberts for making Americans hate the Supreme Court because of his BS".

The Trump administration installed earlier this month a ban on asylum claims made by immigrants who illegally crossed the country's shared southern border with Mexico.

Last heard on Twitter, Trump has gone back to his tried and tested "migrant invasion" rant: "There are a lot of CRIMINALS in the Caravan".

'Every case that gets filed in the Ninth Circuit, we get beaten.

As Mrs. Mitchell notes, "President Obama remade the federal judiciary in his philosophical image and the left has done an aggressive job of judge shopping over the past two years to find sympathetic judges".

Trump goes on to correctly note that about 79 percent of rulings of the 9th Circuit - which has the reputation of being liberal-leaning - are reversed by the high court.
