CBBC Newsround: Watch the trailer for the new Lion King movie

The first teaser trailer for Disney's live-action remake of The Lion King has been released.

The film arrives amid a streak of massively successful live-action remakes of their films, produced by Disney.

"Damn even tho I know everything that happens in lion king I still cried at the trailer lmao", quipped someone else.

The movie hits theaters on July 19, 2019. The backdrops look gorgeous too, with the trailer making the sunrise into a big focal point, and there are lots of moments that fans of the original will recognise and love.

Also starring are Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa, John Oliver as Zazu, Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari, and Beyonce - now billed as Beyoncé Knowles-Carter - as Nala, Simba's childhood best friend.

James Earl Jones as Mufasa: The veteran actor will reprise the role of wise king and Simba's father in The Lion King's live-action adaptation. It's pretty breathtaking, and it's clear that director Jon Favreau is indeed recreating certain scenes exactly as they're presented in the 1994 film. The trailer then goes on to show the iconic scene of Rafiki holding up Simba when he was presented to the kingdom to the sounds of The Circle of Life.

Back in September of 2016, it was announced that Jon Favreau would direct the live-action remake of The Lion King.

Flip the page for the trailer and the wild reactions to the new Lion King look. "One day, the sun will set on my time here", Mufasa, says to his son Simba.

The casting amped up the excitement for "The Lion King", and people were thrilled to hear James Earl Jones once again voice Mufasa. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub's arrival. Tell us your thoughts in the comments down below!
