Officials say the incident began as a domestic argument between the man and woman in the garden center at the Walmart.

Police say a Walmart employee attempted to intervene in the dispute and called 911.

Ocala police said in a Facebook post that the suspect, a 55-year-old man, was hospitalized late Saturday afternoon due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

They found him about two hours later at a home down the road with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head - he is not expected to survive.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports that the woman and the shooter had been dating for nine months, but had recently broken up. Police also said via Twitter that they will be releasing a photo of the suspect as soon as possible.

Scotty Ballard told the Ocala Star-Banner that he has known Carli Cronin for about a year and a half and was her roommate. Ballard said Johnson threatened Cronin, saying at one point he was "coming strapped" for her. Wade described the shooter as a bald black man who was wearing brown shorts and an orange vest. Her name hasn't been released, pending notification of family members. When Wade went outside, she saw the gunman riding away on a bicycle. The woman died at a hospital.
