Its frame is also 787mm longer than the largest Wrangler. The truck has a 137-inch (3,480) wheelbase, adding 19.4 inches (492 mm) to the four-door Wrangler's wheelbase.

As important as the interior and exterior look of the truck is, this new mid-size pickup player will be judged by what's underneath the body and hood. A six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission is available, and Jeep says a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel with 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque will be available in 2020. The pickup will be able to handle up to 30-inches of water fording, with an approach angle of 43.6 degrees, breakover angle of 20.3 degrees, departure angle of 26 degrees, and ground clearance of 11.1 inches. As to the business end of the vehicle, Jeep engineers have included some thoughtful in the bed design. Those features come standard on the more lavish Overland, which offers leather seats as an option. It also rides on Fox dampers that aren't offered on the Wrangler. That's no joke, either, Jeep aiming the auto at "mundane fearing millenials", those with "an appreciation of capability" and who like to get out there. An eight-speed automatic is optional.

Towing in the Jeep Gladiator is rated at up to 7,650 lb (3,470 kg) and payload is rated at 1,600 lb (726 kg).
