Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly planning to boycott this year's Ballon d'Or award ceremony having learnt about the victor.

The Croat, who won the Champions League for the fourth time in five years with Real Madrid in May, became an even greater legend for his country in last summer's global tournament in Russian Federation.

Football leaks revealed that the Croatian playmaker will beat the 2016 UEFA European Champion to win the Balllon D'or award.

The Kopa Award, for best young player, is reportedly heading to Kylian Mbappe, for his efforts in firing France to a second World Cup triumph and impressive season with title winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Modric has enjoyed a landmark year, starring for Real Madrid in their successful Champions League campaign then helping Croatia to the World Cup Final against France.

Messi and Ronaldo have dominated the award for ten years now.

Assuming the Real Madrid midfielder emerges victorious, Los Blancos will overtake Juventus in the overall standings with nine winners to eight.

Either Messi or Ronaldo has won the Ballon d'Or in each of the last 10 years, bagging five apiece.

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde said that it is unusual that Lionel Messi is not on the Ballon d'Or podium - while Luka Modric, Antoine Griezmann and Cristiano Ronaldo are. In fact, you have to go back to 2007 for the last time either of the players didn't claim the accolade - on that occasion Messi came 3rd, Ronaldo 2nd, and Kaka 1st.
