In a first for a USA professional sports league, Alexa-enabled devices with screens, such as the Echo Show and Echo Spot, will also offer visuals featuring team logos, broadcast information and player imagery.

Echo devices aren't the only way Alexa is reaching new users.

The Security Panel Controller API builds on Amazon's Alexa Guard, a forthcoming alert feature that sends notifications to smartphones when an Amazon Echo speaker detects the sound of breaking glass or of a smoke or carbon monoxide (CO) alarm.

Amazon shipped 6.3 million Echo devices worldwide in the third quarter of 2018, 400,000 more than Google shipped of its Home smart speakers, according to analyst firm Canalys.

Axios has more: "Amazon's voice technology is getting clobbered outside the USA, as Google and Chinese companies look to expand their voice footprints internationally. eMarketer notes that Amazon has managed to maintain its lead up to this point by brokering partnerships in which its voice assistant could be used on other premium speakers, like Sonos". Amazon's Echo Auto is gaining a presence in vehicles through partnerships with Audi, BMW, Ford, Lincoln, Lexus, SEAT, and Toyota. Depending on the device and company, there are infinite amount of ways this Alexa integration can be used.

Thanks to these integrations, and despite Echo losing marketshare to rivals, the number of people talking to Alexa each day doubled in 2018. In the latter case, Apple Music has been installed more than 10m times on Android devices so far.
