Real Madrid ease to record fourth Club World Cup title

Real Madrid won their seventh intercontinental cup and third one on the bounce, courtesy of their commanding victory over United Arab Emirates champions Al Ain in the Final of the FIFA Club World Cup 2018, by a 4-1 margin. To be able to win three Champions Leagues and Club World Cup is history in itself and it will be hard to equal this.

Real could have won by more. Now they have added a third consecutive Club World Cup.

Los Blancos have now won four of the last five Club World Cups and the victor of the tournament has hailed from Europe in the previous six.

Goals from Marcos Llorente (60th minute) and Sergio Ramos (79th) gave the LaLiga giants 3-0 lead as the game reached the homestretch before Al-Ain's Tsukasa Shiotani netted their consolatory goal in the 86th minute.

A Real Madrid fan holds a shirt with a message for Ronaldo and Zidane prior to the FIFA Club World Cup UAE final match between Real Madrid and Al Ain.

And with just over 10 minutes to go the trophy was sealed with Ramos flicking home a wonderful header from Modric's corner to make it 3-0.

Midfielder Marcos Llorente also scored from outside the area for Madrid's second goal on the hour.

Many expected this result but despite Madrid getting the trophy, many applauded Al Ain for their journey and for putting up a fight against the Spanish heavyweights.

Then, a mistake by Marcelo left El Sahat alone to round Courtois, only for Ramos to hustle back and block his shot on the line. Emilio Butragueno (Real Madrid's director of institutional relations) called Enzo Francescoli (River's sports director) and told him that they would like to talk to us about the player.

Real Madrid then had numerous additional opportunities to score over the remainder of the first half, but a shot by Lucas Vasquez grazed the woodwork and Karim Benzema sent a close-range shot over the crossbar.
