‘Goodfellas’ actor Frank Adonis dead at 83

A friend of Adonis', Phil Castellano, shared his condolences on Facebook in a series of photos remembering his pal.

He went to to appear in a number of popular films, including Wall Street, True Romance and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

He was best known for his roles in some of Martin Scorsese's most famous films such as Goodfellas (1990), Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) and Raging Bull (1980).

The star made his big screen debut in 1971 in the French Connection. For the last few years, he primarily struggled with kidney problems and had been on dialysis.

Following the news of his passing, many of his fans flocked to Twitter to pay a tribute. By the end of his life, Adonis had amassed 40 film credits with a penchant for playing gangsters, including appearances in films like "Find Me Guilty", "Mafioso: The Father, The Son", "Mob Queen", and on episodes of "Law & Order", "The Equalizer" and "The Sopranos".

He also has another daughter from a previous marriage.
