Nonetheless, her proposal has sparked a predictable wave of anger from Republicans, some of whom are trying to claim she wants to tax all income at 70 percent (which is not how marginal tax rates work).

Some House Democrats have been unhappy with progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's resistance to falling in line with her fellow party members, particularly her threats to support primary challenges against incumbents, Politico reported Friday.

"In private conversations with Ocasio-Cortez over the past few months, Velázquez counseled Ocasio-Cortez against targeting her Democratic colleagues in future elections", Politico reported.

She floated the idea during an interview on the CBS show "60 Minutes", which will be shown on Sunday.

The New York State Workers' Compensation Board's website also shows that Ocasio-Cortez's campaign carried two other comp policies with the State Insurance Fund.

"I'm sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there's nearly an outstanding rule: Don't attack your own people", Representative Emmanuel Cleaver (D., Mo.) told Politico.

"Time to walk the walk", Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. "Honestly, if the Democrats had three more of her [Ocasio-Cortez], Americans would run away so fast that we'd have a power monopoly until she's Lieberman's age". The 29-year-old's zealous confrontations with more senior lawmakers, which she appears to have dialed back in recent weeks, have drawn the consternation of those concerned about the potential for her to splinter the party.

"I can not tell you the amount of dysfunction that this president is advancing", she said on MSNCB following the address, as reported by The Daily Wire. I think she has matured.

"She's new here, feeling her way around", added Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.).

Lieberman may have served almost 25 years in the Senate - first as a Democrat, and later as an Independent - but he's certainly been lost to history at this point, and the political world is passing him by.

The new lawmaker calls the plan the "Green New Deal".
