Steelers says no trade discussions for WR Antonio Brown

"I've heard so many stories - I like Antonio - he plays as hard as anybody on Sunday and he practices hard".

It wasn't the first time Brown ran afoul of team rules, and Rooney was asked why the team's past efforts at discipline didn't alter the behavior that led to this most recent incident.

Arians was around for Brown's first two seasons in Pittsburgh. "He's just gotta make better decisions off the field, be on time, do some of those little things". Conventional wisdom says the Steelers might hope, despite comments made by owner Art Rooney, that a few weeks removed from the disastrous Week 17 AWOL situation involving Brown and the team, cooler heads could prevail and the team could press on with Brown on the roster rather than part of a trade. He's not wrong. Kicker Chris Boswell went 13-for-20 on field goal tries before mysteriously heading to the IR at the end of the season.

Arians was the Steelers' offensive coordinator from 2007-11. Asked whether Brown could return to the team if he shows contrition, Rooney II said he's open to options but adds, "there aren't many signs out there that that's going to happen".

Antonio Brown just can't keep his thumbs away from the Twitter machine. He has instead responded to the Steelers' public words with cryptic social media posts.

"No offense to Antonio Brown, he's gonna go down as one of the greats, an wonderful player", Golladay told the Detroit Free Press. I wouldn't feel comfortable betting one way or another, but I do know that it likely won't be ending smoothly.
