United produced another dominant display under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with Martial and Paul Pogba standing out as the Red Devils fired three goals past a timid Cottagers side bereft of ideas against a superior opponent.

They settled for a 3-0 win in the end and Solskjaer was able to keep Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard on the bench before United welcome PSG to Old Trafford for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie on Tuesday night. You've just got to be ready when you get the chance.

"So we are very happy obviously because when you when ten games you are very happy and high on confidence. Since Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] came in we talked about this, we want to be at the top, in the top four", he told Sky Sports after the game.

"I think in the first half we didn't control the game but we scored two goals and after that we got another and then controlled it".

"We gave them the first 10 minutes, maybe played into their hands". Pogba is the captain in everything but name, the leader in the dressing room and on the pitch.

"It's not me making a difference to the club". The last-ditch, winning games at the end, winning points at the end, that was fantastic. It's the whole team, it's all of us together.

It's a wonder the Fulham players aren't still trying to get him off their minds, Pogba really did run them ragged through large periods of the game.

Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial both scored superb goals in the first half, as Fulham just couldn't cope with United's rapid counter attacks.

The former Juventus man played very well and won the Man of the Match award as Solskjaer won his eighth of nine Premier League games to put the team in fourth place in the league, ahead of Chelsea's game against Manchester City on Sunday.

"We are in a risky situation [in the league] and I told my players that it's important to show to our fans we are alive and try to do our best until the end. When you play against champions you have to stay calm and not lose your composure - that is the real problem".

Herrera - perhaps more than any other Red - has helped Pogba flourish by offering him a defensive shield, as well as forming part of a strong midfield block which has created stability in front of a defence which has creaked at times this season.
