Danai Gurira to leave The Walking Dead after season 10

Danai Gurira arrives at the premiere of AMC's "The Walking Dead" 4th season at Universal CityWalk on October 3, 2013 in Universal City, California.

The Walking Dead fans haven't seen Dwight (Austin Amelio) since the end of Season 8, when the former Savior was forced to leave Alexandria by Darryl (Norman Reedus).

Sorry Walking Dead fans, one of your favs is exiting the series.

According to a new deal the actress reportedly inked with AMC, Gurira, who has played the katana-wielding Michonne since 2012, will only appear intermittently throughout the show's 10th season.

Her appearances will be limited to only a few episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Walking Dead returns for the second half of Season 9 on Sunday. Right now, she's got a lot of opportunities and she needs to weigh what she feels is best for her. "We really want her to stay. She is an incredibly valuable character and I'm really hoping she stays", he added.

Aside from her well-established acting talent in television and film, the Master in Fine Arts from NYU has written and starred in multiple theatre productions dating back to 2009. On the big screen, Gurira-a standout as Okoye in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War-will next be seen in Avengers: Endgame in April. Maggie is also said to be out of the story for now (probably due to her ABC series commitments), but Lauren Cohen could return in a spinoff project as well.

No specific reason was given why she left the series, and AMC declined to comment about the news.
