A total of 300 cars were gutted in a fire that broke out in the open parking area of Aero India 2019 at Yelahanka here on Saturday afternoon.

"However, the insurance claim is available to only those who have availed the comprehensive motor vehicle policy, which covers the property damage".

Earlier, it was reported that ace shuttler P.V Sindhu was present at the venue who was also seen boarding a Tejas aircraft. There were roughly around 3,000 cars parked at this venue when the show was in full swing.

According to a report by NDTV, more than 300 cars have been destroyed due to a fire that broke out in a parking lot that contains nearly a thousand cars. Fire engines and an ambulance has been rushed to the spot the fight the flames. "Fire fighting operations by Chief Fire Officer and 10 water tenders staff underway (sic)". Sources say they will fly once the fire is completely doused.

Ground reports state that many came to know about the fire outbreak after hearing a loud "bang". These are manned 24x7 spotters from Intelligence Bureau and Central Industrial Security Force. The fire first started in the dry grass near the parking lot before it spread and set parked cars ablaze, said local media reports.

Senior Police Officer M.N. Reddi said the fire spread rapidly due to dry grass and strong winds. There were no causalities in the incident. No injuries or any harm to people was reported.

Meanwhile, the organisers have confirmed that the show will go on on Sunday as scheduled and end peacefully as planned.

This was the second major incident at the 12th edition of the Aero India within a span of just five days.
