Sony flagship Xperia 1 highlights 4 new device offerings

At MWC 2019, Sony's shown us a push to simplify its Xperia phone lineup and focus more on users and creators. The new Sony phone comes as a successor to the last year's flagship Xperia XZ3 and was initially rumored as the Xperia XZ4.

The all new Sony Xperia 1 features a huge 6.5-inch 4K OLED HDR display with 21:9 aspect ratio. Moreover, some game developers like Gameloft (Asphalt 9), Epic Games (Fornite), and Tencent Games (Arena of Valor) are already signed up to optimize their most popular games for the new screens. Out of the three, Xperia 1 is the first smartphone to come with a 4K OLED display.

The cameras aren't quite as good on the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus as it is on the Xperia 1, as you don't get all the expertise of the Alpha family in those smartphones.

One of the main differences with the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus compared to the Xperia 1, is the fact that these are coming with a polycarbonate build instead of glass.

The device will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor and operate with Android Pie "out of the box". What's not that impressive is the top bezel though, still a thick Sony style one, while the bottom one is actually one of the slimmest around.

The Xperia 10 is Sony's mid-range offering - it has a 6-inch Full HD+ 21:9 display and is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset. All three phones adopt a 21:9 aspect ratio for the displays, giving them a unique look. It has an 8MP selfie camera with a f/2 aperture. Due to the vast competition in the smartphone sector, the manufacturer which is known for producing best-in-class camera sensors has been struggling to obtain the right momentum.

The component which shapes the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus is the 21:9 display.

Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus are available to buy today, February 25, 2019 from all major United Kingdom operators and retailers, including EE, Vodafone, O2, Carphone Warehouse, Virgin, Sky Mobile, and Tesco. Hopefully, the more modern hardware and Sony's Stamina mode, coupled with Android Pie's intelligent battery management, will be so effective that Sony's Xperia 10 and 10 Plus will run for more than a day. On the front, it has an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 84° wide-angle view for selfies.

"We are continuing to push the boundaries in pursuit of innovation and our new Xperia delivers genuine technologies with a multitude of professional-grade features for creative entertainment experiences that are only possible with Sony". It has a dual camera setup of 13MP+2MP. It is equipped with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 512 GB via the microSD card slot. We'll update this article once Sony provides us with a definitive answer.

The Sony Xperia 1 will be available later this year. The former will come in Black, Navy blue, Pink, and Silver, while the Xperia 10 Plus will be available in Black, Navy Blue, Gold, and Silver.
