BREAKING: Actress Katherine Helmond dies at 89.

Katherine Helmond, perhaps most familiar to '80s kids for playing Judith Light's flirtatious mom, Mona, on Who's the Boss? died of complications from Alzheimer's on February 23, her talent agency APA said Friday. Katherine won four Emmy nominations for her role in Soap and starred in the series from when it first aired in 1977 until it came to an end in 1981.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Christian, her half-sister, Alice Parry, and many nieces and nephews, her agency's statement said. I've been with Katherine since I was 19 years old. She also starred as Jessica Tate on ABC's daytime-serial spoof Soap, Doris Sherman on the network's Coach, and Lois Whelan, the mother of Patricia Heaton's character on Everybody Loves Raymond. But her most memorable role would be that of the feisty Mona in Who's The Boss? .

On Who's the Boss?

Helmond was born on July 5, 1929, in Galveston, Texas. The Cars franchise buoyed her through the 2000s, and Helmond finished off her esteemed career appearing on A&E's The Glades and HBO's True Blood in the 2010s. You taught me to hold my head above the marsh!

She secured a Tony Award nomination in 1973 for her Broadway performance in The Great God Brown.

"You were an instrumental part of my life. Am I going to make millions of dollars?'
