She is survived by her husband Dion, her 12-year-old daughter Hannah, her mother Janice, brothers and sisters, and many extended family.

Freeman's friend Crystal Lewis, also a gospel singer, remembered Freeman on Instagram, writing, "We only met in person one time but we continued to communicate and I have to say few people IN MY WHOLE LIFE were as encouraging".

"On Saturday afternoon, Janice began complaining that she couldn't breath properly and, in a matter of minutes, required CPR from her husband", her rep said.

Dion called 9-1-1 and then performed CPR on his wife until paramedics could arrive.

The singer, who starred on the United States version of the singing competition, passed away on Saturday from a blood clot, according to TMZ.

Freeman maintained a relationship with Cyrus even after she was no longer on the show, and posted a very emotional thank you to Cyrus in 2018 after the star helped her and her family financially. "And she allows God to use her to bless my life".
