Dozens of metro churches closed Sunday morning ahead of winter storm

A winter storm watch is in effect for Sunday night in our area. "The safety of our residents is our top priority, and we urge everyone to be informed of weather conditions and to stay off the roads so that we are able to deploy available resources to clean the snow". AccuWeather said the most likely scenario Sunday in Centre County is three to six inches. Totals of five to eight inches of snow accumulated depending upon where you are in the region.

Isolated and scattered power outages due to downed tree limbs from heavy wet snow are possible.

Hundreds of schools in New Jersey were forced to close last week after winter storms dropped almost 10 inches of snow. The northwestern corner of CT could see lesser amounts of 3-6 inches of snow. Central Massachusetts and the Greater Boston Area are expected to get 5 to 8 inches dumped on us between midnight and 5 a.m.

A Winter Storm Warning means that travel is expected to be unsafe and potentially impossible for some periods during the storm.

The storm is expected to burn itself out between 7 and 9 a.m., giving way to cold temperatures. MI also is in store for a bitter-cold start to March, with temperatures 20 degrees (-6.7 Celsius) to 30 degrees (-1 Celsius) below normal forecast Sunday through Wednesday.
