Lotte Van Der Zee Dead - Miss Teen Universe Dies at 19

Former Miss Teen Universe and Dutch model Lotte van der Zee died of heart attack.

She had taken the ski trip to celebrate her upcoming birthday and had returned from a night out with friends when she started suffering chest pains.

Shortly after she had the heart attack back in February, her parents took to Instagram to update their daughter's fans on her ailing health.

Lotte who had embarked on a promising global career in modeling since winning Miss Teen Universe, had complained of feeling unwell when she woke up the day before her birthday.

The death of Lotte Van Der Zee was announced by her family on social media on March 7. It is incredibly surreal that our dearly beloved Lotte is not around us anymore.

The former beauty pageant victor, who had carved out a successful modelling career since she won Miss Teen Universe in 2017, was holidaying in the Austrian resort of Westendorf at the time she took ill.

It was her parents who broke the sad news of her passing on Instagram. The former Miss Teen Universe was in a coma for two weeks after going into cardiac arrest the day before her 20th birthday, Dutch website AD reports.

Her mother reportedly resusciated her before rushing her to an Austrian hospital.

"Dear friends, with the utmost sorrow we want to inform you about the reason behind Lotte's public absence in recent days".

They explained: "Two days ago, during our holiday in Westendorf - Austria, Lotte started to feel unwell throughout the course of the afternoon".

Her parents plan to have tests done to determine what brought on the sudden heart attack. "We are grateful for everyone's support and sincerely thank you for your love and positivity in these times when she needs it most".

However, when she did not emerge for breakfast, they went to check on her and found her unwell in her bed.

Alongside the emotional post, they shared a picture of their daughter. "A feeling that escalated quickly in sudden cardiac arrest", they wrote.
