Patriots reportedly showing interest in free-agent WR Golden Tate

Showtime Tate is the best. According to Ian Rapoport, a handful of teams including the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New England Patriots are showing interest in Tate. But instead of wearing the Philadelphia Eagles' midnight green, he'll be wearing the blue of the New York Giants. But the nine-year pro will give quarterback Eli Manning a steady target.

The Steelers have already reportedly made a move to sign wide receiver Donte Moncrief but could also be a buyer for Golden Tate.

Tate caught 74 passes for 795 yards and 4 touchdowns in 15 games between the Lions and Eagles last season. He's caught at least 70 passes in each of his last five seasons.

Tate is coming off a poor campaign in which he was dealt from Detroit to Philadelphia midway through the season.

Patriots Free Agency Rumors 2019: Chris Hogan part of Odell Beckham Jr. replacement plan? (report)

Both players were primarily special team performers in 2018.

"My years are limited", Tate said at the time.

Tate fills a void the Giants had at the wide receiver position following their decision to trade star Odell Beckham Jr.to the Cleveland Browns ahead of the official start of free agency on Wednesday.

Gettleman wanted Tate so much that he was willing to forfeit a fifth-round compensatory pick and handed Philadelphia a fourth-round compensatory pick just to bring him into the fold, a move that directly flies in the face of a proper rebuild. Is this really a team in rebuilding mode?
