February's full moon - a snow moon - was also a supermoon, while January's full moon - a "wolf moon" - was not only a supermoon, but also boasted a lunar eclipse.

So with the grass going insane at least the evenings are getting longer and when the clocks go forward at the end of March there will again be plenty of time to get out and cut the lawn after work. According to EarthSky, the next full moons will happen on April 19, May 18 and June 17.

A supermoon gets its name for its larger and brighter appearance, which occurs due to the moon being at its closer point to the Earth, Adelaide Now reported.

Twice a year, the equinox happens in the spring (around March 19-21) and in the autumn (around September 21-24). The next time this will happen is 2030.

March's full moon is sometimes called the "worm moon", because according to folklore tradition, it occurs at a time when the frosty ground is melting and earthworms start to emerge. It is also called "worm moon" because the spring season brings the warmer temperature to which more worms appear.

When can people see the super worm moon? Eastern. It's the first time in two decades a full moon and the start of spring have been so close to each other. Moonrise will happen soon after, but will vary depending on your location.

The rare sight will be visible in Australian skies from around 7pm Thursday night (AEST, so 8pm for those in AEDT states), but its largeness and brightness will peak closer to midnight.
