What's more telling about the announcement, however, is the language Shuman uses in the post: "Today, we're introducing a new video program called State of Play, and the first episode kicks off Monday, March 25 at 2:00pm Pacific Time". E3 and other large events have become less relevant and viable, and many companies have chose to approach things in a more controlled and probably less expensive way in the form of streaming. Typically, similar Nintendo Directs and episodes of "Inside Xbox" have featured runtimes varying from 15 minutes to over an hour, so we'll have to wait for the first installment of "State of Play" to set the tone. Even Xbox has started down this path with their Inside Xbox live presentation.

With regards to future State of Play episodes, Sony hasn't announced any concrete dates, but promised the show will return throughout the year.

If we had to guess, we'd say it's likely that we'll hear more about Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part II and Death Stranding, all of which are hotly-anticipated titles but none of which now have known release dates.

Nevertheless, as Nintendo has already proved with the Nintendo Direct programme, it's far easier to avoid spoilers, leaks etc. and keep fans in the loop if you release updates regularly, rather than saving everything up for hectic, annual industry events like E3. These are titles like WiLD and Concrete Genie. It might be too soon for that, too.

No information on which games could appear was revealed.

You will be able to watch State of Play live on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter.
