Iron Man VR is Coming to PlayStation VR This Year

Tony Stark will soon swoop onto Playstation VR systems in a new Iron Man VR game that uses the platform's technology to put players inside Tony's (virtual) armor from developer Camouflaj.

After both Iron Man movie tie-in games failed to impress critics and fans in 2008 and 2010, it seemed unlikely that the armored Avenger would get another chance to headline his own video game. That will come off as a little sterile for customers who want to buy someone a downloadable PSN game as a gift, but it will serve the same objective for most other users. Ghost is traditionally an Iron Man villain, so it makes sense for him (or her, depending on which incarnation is in the game) to be in Iron Man VR.

Other VR titles were mentioned throughout as well, including a teaser trailer for Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted, and a look at the sci-fi thriller Observation, which got a May 21st release date. In addition, as teased by the PlayStation Blog, "new game announcements" are also on the cards. For example, it's unclear if it is a PlayStation VR exclusive, or if it will be available for other virtual reality headsets as well.

The PlayStation VR, which cost US$399 at launch, features a 5.7-inch OLED display and it offers a 1080p resolution.

Also, it will be interesting to keep in mind whether or not this game will be set in the same universe as Marvel's Spider-Man. While the game has never quite lived up to expectations, Sony's hoping to right the ship with No Man's Sky VR, which will come as part of the free No Man's Sky: Beyond update due out sometime this summer. However, if Iron Man VR's trailer serves as any indication, this new effort won't be making the same mistakes.
