Shovel Knight Dev Reveals 8-Bit Ninja Game 'Cyber Shadow'

Much leaping, slashing, and ninja platforming will ensue in Cyber Shadow, as you carve a path through the techno hordes and nimbly avoid traps and other obstacles across Mekacity.

Are you excited to see Cyber Shadow is coming to the PlayStation 4? And that's about all the excuse you need for some ninja action.

We're very proud to announce Cyber Shadow, the newest project from Yacht Club Games.

Authentic 8-bit presentation with hand-crafted sprites, a detailed pixel aesthetic, and flawless controls. Who can be trusted? You'll be able to equip items, find secrets, upgrade your skills, and more, all while listening to a thumping soundtrack produced by Jake Kaufman (Shovel Knight, Crypt of the NecroDancer). Yacht Club took notice of it a few years back and wanted to lend a hand to Hunziker to help the game realize its fullest potential.

Cyber Shadow, according to the official announcement, is a 2D side-scrolling platformer that combines "the level design principles of Mario, the skills and action of Ninja Gaiden, the enemy designs of Contra, and the dark visual aesthetic of Batman".

In this way, the game became a bit of a codevelopment. Aarne agreed, so Yacht Club Games came on to handle things like porting, marketing, and design feedback while the main game is being worked on.

Earlier this month, Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games teased that it would be revealing a new game it's publishing at PAX East. Will think this will be a game that's really special, and we can't wait for everyone to give it a try!
