Odell Beckham Jr. reflects on being traded, saying goodbye to Giants

"If we wanted to critique people for coming and not coming, we should make it mandatory".

There is no doubt the day the Giants traded Beckham away will never be forgotten, not by the Giants and not by the Browns.

During his press conference, Beckham was flanked by three of his new teammates - Baker Mayfield, Jarvis Landry and Myles Garrett - who all definitely sounded glad to have him.

Despite having one of his closest friends in Cleveland, Beckham admitted that he was also sad about leaving NY. "It was a lot of emotions; a lot of thoughts that run through your mind". "It'll be one of the best things that ever happened to me in my life". Your whole life is changing, it's still the same in theory, but it's changing.

Beckham said that after he learned he was headed to Cleveland, he called LeBron James and asked the National Basketball Association superstar about the area. "You build relationships with your teammates and those other guys on that team and that's really the hardest thing. So we tried to come up with creative different ways to get it done and it didn't work out, so you move on". But now I get an opportunity meet new guys, new friends.

Even with Beckham in Cleveland, the Browns didn't have flawless attendance at their first day of voluntary workouts.

The Browns are allowed to open their offseason program early because they have a new head coach, with Freddie Kitchens taking over after serving as the offensive coordinator in 2018.

"I definitely want to be here and create that bond", he said.

"This can't be real", Beckham said, a tuft of bleached blond hair poking out from under his orange cap. "Gave him a hug, too". "He just said: 'You're going to love it, you're going to love Cleveland.' I said, 'I can't wait.' That's like my idol, so it's the person I look up to the most, that's my guy. Just like a love story". Beckham was an on-time arrival for Day 1 with the Browns, but he informed Kitchens he will not be on site for the entire program, which is voluntary.

The good news for everyone in Cleveland is that it sounds like Beckham will occasionally be around for the Browns' offseason workouts this year.
