Bret Hart attacked during WWE Hall of Fame speech

Madsen rushed into the ring where Hart and niece Natalya (accepting induction on behalf of her late father, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart) were standing at the podium. The simultaneous broadcast on the WWE Network cut to black before coming back and showing shots of concerned and confused fans in the stands. Hart was previously inducted individually in 2006.

The induction event resumed after the man was taken into custody.

"The Hart Foundation left an indelible mark on WWE's tag team division and created many lasting memories for the WWE Universe", WWE said.

According to reports, Bret Hart is ok following the attack.

Dash Wilder cracked the attacker with a punch that dropped him, shortly after the man was pulled away from Davey Boy Smith Jr, Bret's nephew.

"He should have never attacked Bret Hart especially at such a special moment in his life", Fisher said.

'The individual has been turned over to the proper authorities'. Unfortunately, the fan jumped inside the ring and tackled Hart. It was a bad action as this was a moment to honor her late father and WWE was smart not to have the attacker's face or likeness shown on the telecast.

Madsen is facing two counts of assault in the third degree, criminal trespass in the third degree and a violation of local law.

We'll pass along an update on Bret Hart when we get it. Hart has not yet tweeted about the incident.
