Trump to give ‘incredible’ Woods top medal

The Presidential Medal of Freedom (along with the Congressional Gold Medal) is the highest award that can be awarded to a civilian in the United States. That's next on the list for Tiger Woods.

Previous recipients include Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Jesse Owens, Billie Jean King and fellow golfers Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.

Trump is apparently particularly impressed with Woods return to the forefront of golf, as he live-tweeted the end of Woods round in Augusta and was quick to congratulate the athlete multiple times.

Trump didn't indicate when he'll present the medal to Woods.

The win yesterday is already being considered one of the greatest comeback stories in sports ever as Woods career was rumored to be over just two years ago thanks to nagging knee and back injuries. President Trump, with whom Woods is reportedly on good terms, was very excited to watch his friend win the tournament and it looks like he's still riding that wave. "What a fantastic life comeback for a really great guy!" he added later.

Trump has previously awarded the medal posthumously to Elvis Presley and Babe Ruth.

The victory for Woods at Augusta represented an epic comeback, almost 11 years after his last victory in a major tournament.

Woods won his fifth Masters title Sunday, overcoming personal and professional adversity to once more claim the green jacket.
