The North Korean Workers' Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun criticized the recent United States decision to deploy THAAD in Romania in a commentary titled "The contradiction that intensifies with the THAAD deployment in Europe".

In response, South Korea says its military is analysing details of the launch, along with United States authorities, and has bolstered surveillance in case there are additional weapons launches.

If confirmed, the launch would be the first North Korean missile test since 2017 - and since Mr. Trump began talks with Mr. Kim.
