Constance Wu melts down over Fresh Off the Boat renewal, then apologizes

ABC announced on Friday that it had renewed the sitcom for a sixth season.

Actress Constance Wu made headlines this week after she responded rather unhappily to news that her ABC sitcom Fresh Off the Boat had been renewed for another season. But the internet saves everything - including her "Dislike" comment on an Instagram post about Fresh Off the Boat being renewed, and her response to a fan who congratulated her on the renewal; he tweeted that it was "Great news" and she replied "No it's not". "Fuck", followed by "Fucking hell". When another tweeter responded that her comedy's renewal is "great news", Wu responded in a since-deleted tweet, "No it's not".

The 37-year-old actress, who also starred in the movie Crazy Rich Asians, basically confirmed that her tweets were about the renewal of Fresh Off the Boat, but she still loves the show. "I was disappointed in not being able to do that other project - because that other project would have challenged me as an artist - that other project would have been really hard and not easy or pleasant at all", Wu confessed.

On Saturday, she clarified that she loves working on the TV show and that her disappointment had more to do with losing another role.

Now, in a proper statement, Wu explained why she was "temporarily upset" by the renewal.

Wu is next set to appear in the new film Hustlers with Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B.

To a certain extent, we understand her frustration since you really only have so much time to take advantage of being at the peak of your career - but there had to be better ways to handle this, right? "F-", she wrote, before adding, "F-- hell".

She wrote: "I do regret that and it wasn't nice and I am sorry for that". 'But I do love and enjoy it. "For all the fans support, thank u", with a kissy face emoji. She also said that, despite the way it appeared, the comments were not about Fresh Off the Boat's renewal. "I hope you hear them", Wu captioned the statement.

Since actors are usually thrilled when their show is not cancelled, people were pretty confused by Wu's feelings. I say f-- a lot.

"Believe women? You weren't sexually assaulted you were given a multimillion dollar contract extension", tweeted Hollywood Reporter senior writer Seth Abramovitch.
