More Than 600,000 People Want ‘Game Of Thrones’ Final Season Remade

The petition, entitled, "Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers", has garnered over 800,000 signatures as of Friday morning. This series deserves a final season that makes sense.

Martin did note, however, that he had advised Benioff and Weiss of the "major points" he envisioned for the series, adding that "there may also be changes" made by the showrunners.

Other fans are equally bewildered by the moral regression of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's Jaime Lannister - an unambiguous bad guy back in 2011 whose redemptive arc over seven seasons was one of the most interesting aspects of the show's scrupulous, patient plotting.

The series finale of Game of Thrones airs Sunday, May 19 at 9/8c on HBO.

While GoT still retains a 91 percent overall rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the eighth season sits at just 71 percent.

"I unfortunately I had to watch this sh*t to know it needs redoing", one fan wrote in the comments section of the petition.

Up to now, a total of 221,415 persons have already signed the petition. There's three Thrones spinoffs in the works, so fans who want more won't be leaving this universe anytime soon.

Whether or not HBO would actually consider remaking the final season is doubtful. All the build up was for nothing.

While some on social media supported the petition idea, it also received some pushback with commentators calling signatories "entitled".

After the horrific death of Missandei of Naath (Nathalie Emmanuel) two episodes ago, Anderson helped lighten the mood a bit on Twitter by posting a video of himself and Emmanuel performing the "Running Man Challenge" on the set of the show.

However, audiences have always rooted for Daenerys throughout these eight seasons, cheering her on as she frees slaves, saves innocents, and fights those in power to give it to those below... that is, until the end of season eight.

A number of prominent characters met their end in the battle scenes, with there appearing to be no way for any of them to make a magical, last-minute escape.
