Laurent Koscielny refuses to join Arsenal's U.S. pre-season tour

The France global has made 27 appearances in all competitions this campaign for the Gunners as injury hampered his season.

The 33-year-old prefers a move back to Ligue 1 and requested the Gunners terminate his contract in a bid to secure a move away from the club.

"We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any future comment at his time".

Koscielny, who joined Arsenal from French side Lorient in 2010, has made over 350 appearances for the club.

"You're the one we chose as our captain, our leader, and now we're going into pre-season with our captain refusing to go on the tour".

This stance has clearly angered Koscielny, who believes after nine years of service he deserves to leave on his terms.

This decision from Koscielny will no doubt have a huge impact on the locker room.

The Evening Standard are now reporting that Arsenal will be willing to part ways with Koscielny, but that will only be the case if anyone is able to match his £8.8m valuation.

"I think there's a whole list of players that have left Arsenal".

His compatriot, teenage centre-back William Saliba, is on the cusp of completing a transfer to Emirates Stadium, but is expected to then return to Saint-Etienne on loan.

However, Laurent Koscielny is now desperate to leave Arsenal, a club which he has captained for four years.

In something of a bombshell for all associated with the Gunners yesterday afternoon, it was announced that club captain Koscielny had informed Unai Emery and co. that he would not be joining his fellow teammates on their pre-season tour of the US. Then again, you can not let one player dictate your transfer dealings as they sets a poor precedent.

Arsenal also released a statement about the situation.
