AB absence tied to helmet grievance
Per an earlier Schefter tweet, Brown is filing a grievance with the league for the right to wear his old helmet.
It appears that an issue with his helmet could tie into an absence that was previously thought to be exclusively based upon his feet, with details of just how irate Brown has become about his headwear being made public.
And, apparently, this is a very, very big deal for Brown - to a point where he has threatened retirement according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, telling team officials "he will not play football again", if he can not wear the old helmet.
The helmet Brown wants to wear is one he has worn throughout his career, but it is no longer certified by the National Operating Committee for Standards and Athletic Equipment as of this year.
The NFL has a policy of not allowing players to wear helmets that are not certified by NOCSAE.
The post led to plenty of speculation about what happened to Brown's feet.
Something's afoot with Antonio Brown.
"He's still freaking out about it", said one Raiders player. But Brown, who practiced on his tender feet for only two days before leaving Napa to seek another opinion, tried yet again to sneak his old helmet onto the practice field, ultimately being told by team officials to remove it. Brown is considered arguably the best receiver in football, and has caught over 100 balls for over 1,000 yards in each of the last six seasons.
Still, according to one source, "the meeting thing isn't that bad. but the feet, helmet and going dark is an issue".
