The seven people who were killed ranged in age from 15 to 57, said Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke at a news conference. Medical officials said eight people remained in criticial condition.

Saturday night's tragic shooting in Odessa and Midland, Texas began when Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers attempted to make a routine traffic stop.

Media outlets in the Midland-Odessa region report that as many as two shooters in two separate incidents may ave shot as many as 20 people. During the confusing moments of the pursuit, authorities thought there might be two shooters firing from two vehicles. Theater goers were seen running screaming out of the complex.

"They are shooting at random", Midland Mayor Jerry Morales told The New York Times. At least 3 officers have been shot. He also said the hospital has been locked down for the safety of the staff and patients.

Family members say the shooting tore a hole through her bottom lip and tongue and her front teeth were knocked out.

Time magazine wrote earlier this month that USA mass shootings have claimed the lives of 62 people in 2019 alone. "Federal Bureau of Investigation and Law Enforcement is fully engaged", Trump tweeted.

Police have not released details on those killed or injured and the US Postal Service declined to comment on the condition of the mail carrier whose truck was stolen.
