UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday flayed the opposition for keeping away from the special session of the UP legislature, saying they don't have faith in "democratic values" and ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi.

Describing Mahatma Gandhi as the best teacher for "guiding us", Modi continued: "From uniting those who believe in humanity to taking forward sustainable development and ensuring economic self-reliance, Gandhi offered solutions to every problem". He spoke about Gandhiji's five principles of non-violence, respect, understanding, acceptance, appreciation and compassion and the importance of imbibing the principles of non-violence in today's world.

She said whatever has happened in the last four-five years in the country would have "pained the soul" of Mahatma Gandhi.

He said people mobilised for satyagarah on Mahatma Gandhi's call, did the same now for swachhagrah. "A few days ago, United Nations (UN) released a postal stamp to make this occasion memorable, now commemorative stamps and coins have also been released here".

The talk on life and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi by noted Indian scholar Radhakrishnan included experience-sharing about the influence of Mahatma Gandhi by the students of the University of Vienna and a Veena performance by world-renowned Veena artist Ms. Shanti K Rao.
