Todd Gurley misses practice with injury

Todd Gurley didn't practice on Wednesday because of what the Los Angeles Rams are calling a thigh contusion in his left quadriceps.

McVay said Gurley's injury caught the team "off guard".

Even more impressive, Kupp has recorded four games in a row with at least 100 receiving yards, and will be looking to extend that streak on Sunday when the San Francisco 49ers come to town. He has 42 fewer touches, 307 fewer yards and four fewer touchdowns this season compared to his stats through five games last season. After suffering an injury at the tail end of last season, Gurley experienced some troubles during the playoffs and wasn't being used as often or as effectively.

During the offseason, there was plenty of hype surrounding the 49ers possibly taking the leap in the NFC to become legitimate contenders, and this has been exactly the case so far with Kyle Shanahan's team being off to a 4-0 start. The Rams have a lot of confidence in him, McVay said Friday, and feel he'll be able to step up in Talib's absence.

If Gurley is unable to play, expect Malcolm Brown and rookie Darrell Henderson to carry the load at running back for the Rams.

They had lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a season-ending ACL tear about a month prior, and although the 49ers had kept the score close for the first three losses following that injury, the Rams had completely blown the doors off for that fourth defeat.
