The primary focus of Ray J and Weintraub's efforts is the documentary, however, they are also exploring the possibility of shooting a scripted series about Knight and the founding of Death Row Records. This means Ray J is in the position to give the go-ahead on any projects involving Knight's likeness or life story, offering the former music executive the opportunity to bring in some cash.

During the call, he denied signing rights over to his story, in which he revealed that those rights belong to his fiancée Toi-Lin Kelly who will be responsible for all projects from Suge's story.

"Nick Cannon will be doing the book personally as a writer, I know he has all the potential and the spirit to be a great writer, he is a great writer, he will be doing my book", he said.

Suge Knight is now serving time for the death of a man in a 2015 hit-and-run incident which took place on the set of the NWA biopic "Straight Outta Compton", for which he accepted a 28-year plea deal. "He keeps his word".

While in jail, Suge spoke on the matter of Ray J having access to his life rights, saying "Ray J is the little brother and family", but also noted that Ray J is only handling things concerning Death Row Records along with the musical future of the label.
