Netflix's The Witcher: New trailer confirmed its December release date

A brand new trailer for Netflix's The Witcher reveals the new mythological world of "half-humans, half-monsters" starring Henry Cavill in the lead.

The Witcher will start streaming on Netflix from December 20. There is also a cheeky recreation of that bath scene from the game. He is empowered by magic and trained to hunt down monsters as a Witcher.

I have just realised we probably should not be covering this as the Netflix series is based on the books not the game, but what the hell, here's Henry Cavill being gruff in a white wig. As Ciri is a key player in a world full of political subterfuge and war, Geralt must go to great lengths to protect her. Netflix announced today that The Witcher will debut on December 20th, giving fantasy fans something to binge over the holidays.

The other principal actors in the series are Freya Allan (Into the Badlands) as Ciri and Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust) as Yennefer. Eamon Farren, Joey Batey, Lars Mikkelsen, Royce Pierreson, Maciej Musiał, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte, Anna Shaffer, and Mia McKenna-Bruce also appear in the series.

"I know Henry Cavill will be too focused on The Witcher and (please god) Man of Steel 2, but no one would be more fit for Aegon Targaryen", another suggests.

The long-awaited series adaptation of The Witcher is nearly here! "The Witcher" looks like it could fill the void, and if the series takes off, the expansive world that Sapkowski created would nearly certainly be ripe for future Netflix installments.
