Tkachuk will be teammates on the Pacific Division squad with Oilers stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl at the upcoming All-Star game.

Kassian has been suspended for two games under Rule 46.2 (Aggressor), the league said in a statement Monday evening.

Kassian called the hits "targeted" and was unhappy Tkachuk didn't respond with fists of his own.

He was assessed a double-minor and 10-minute misconduct for his reaction to a hit by a Tkachuk behind the Flames goal late in the second period.

With 12 points on the power play this season, Tkachuk understands the value of a man advantage and doesn't mind looking cowardly if his team ends up with the win - which they got by a score of 4-3 against the Oilers on Saturday.

"I don't like the hits". If they're clean, they're still predatorial, which is completely fine.

But the last word has not been said, and according to Kassian, the intensity could continue when the two meet again in a couple of weeks. "But if you're going to play big boy hockey, you've got to answer the bell every once in awhile".

Had Tkachuk been willing on Saturday to go toe-to-toe with gloves off, the unpleasantness might have ended already, Kassian said. "I have a feeling half the people in the league wouldn't go with that guy", Tkachuk said.

Fans of both teams, and across the league, will no doubt be eager to see for whom the bell tolls on January 29 at Rogers Place, when the Oilers and Flames face off again.
