Questioning the Modi government on the move of sending 36 Union Ministers to Kashmir Valley, the Congress on Wednesday asked why are the opposition leaders barred from visiting the Union Territory.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration issued orders to partially allow 2G mobile connectivity on postpaid mobiles in the Union Territory from 15 January. These frontrunners had been held in custody following the unique condition approved to Jammu and Kashmir finished.

While hitting out the Union government, Azad explained that after the abrogation of Article 370, and with the new law coming in place, Lakhs of people in Jammu and Kashmir have suffered loss worth crores, they are coming to see this.

The ministers will visit different districts in both the UTs between January 18 and January 24.

The list includes Purshottam Singh Rupala, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Gen VK Singh, Smriti Irani, G Kishen Reddy, Gajender Singh Shekhawat, Anurag Thakur, Jitender Singh, Hardeep Puri, Piyush Goyal, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Kiren Rijiju.

Kansal said in light of the constitutional changes made in relation to Jammu and Kashmir in August past year, a number of restrictions were imposed to prevent externally aided terrorists from disturbing peace and inflicting casualties on citizens.

Internet services were suspended across the Union Territory on August 5, after the Centre revoked Article 370 of the Constitution and scrapped the special status guaranteed to Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the internet services on mobile phones would remain suspended in all other districts of Jammu Kashmir till further directions, pursuant on review of the adverse impact, if any, of this relaxation on the security situation, the order reads.
