National Wear Red Day® 2020

The American Heart Association, together with its signature movement, Go Red for Women, encourages everyone to "wear red and give" on National Wear Red Day to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease: women's greatest health threat.

You're going to be seeing RED this Friday.

Gordmans, as part of the Stage community of stores, has teamed up with the American Heart Association since 2019 and, with the generosity of its guests, has raised over $250,000 to help educate families on how to prevent heart disease. "We are thrilled to have Nicole's experience, conviction and passion help to drive Go Red in Jacksonville and surrounding communities".

WomenHeart is recognizing Heart Month online, at in-person events around the country, and by talking to legislators about the need to address heart disease in women.

Half of Americans are at risk for heart disease, according to the CDC. My grandmother has survived both stroke and heart attack, my mother suffers from high blood pressure, and my sisters and I have decided we want to do what it takes to live long healthy lives.

"Cardiovascular disease kills one woman every 80 seconds and takes more lives than all forms of cancer combined", officials said. Thomas said. "Go Red, Get Fit Jax is about empowering the entire city of Jacksonville to prioritize their health".

Awareness of the risk of heart disease among women is improving, but events like Go Red Day are important to help make sure women know their risk factors, including silent risk factors like blood pressure.

Health experts recommend 150 minutes of activity per week.
