The app also enables TV owners to subscribe to Apple TV channels, access their iTunes video library, and peruse more than 100,000 movies and TV shows available for purchase or rental.

The Apple TV app and Apple TV+ will be available on 2020 TVs at launch and on LG's 2018 TVs later this year via an over-the-air firmware upgrade.

Do you think that just because you bought your LG TV past year would you lose native access to Apple TV Plus programs and the Apple TV application? "A quick click of the LG Magic Remote is all it takes to get started", LG said. Many are now in 4K with Dolby Vision HDR support too, as is compatible with the majority of new LG TVs.

LG TVs also include support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support, which means users can share or mirror content from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac directly to their TV.

LG says that later in the month, the ‌Apple TV‌ app will also roll out on select UHD UM7X and UM6X models. Now we're hearing that select 2019 LG TVs will also be getting Apple TV+ along with AirPlay 2. However, the arrival of a dedicated app for the streaming service should make jumping between Apple's content and the alternatives a little bit more frictionless. Tonight, LG announced the Apple TV app is now being launched for compatible 2019 models in over 80 countries. And as stated earlier, the company plans to bring the app to its 2018 TVs later this year.
