That proved true when we saw Daniel-who won best of the Sporting group, the first golden retriever to do so since 2006-become this year's fan favorite, although he was eventually bested for Best in Show by Siba the standard poodle. It is the 5th win for the breed, good for fourth-most all-time. Daniel the golden retriever, Bono the Havanese, Wilma the boxer, Conrad the Shetland sheepdog, and Vinny the wire fox terrier also made the final grouping. For one, the Poodle was in competition with breeds, groups and specific dogs with a longer history of success at Westminster and beyond, including Bono, pegged by Dog News Magazine as the top-ranked dog in competition. After each group selects a victor, those three dogs will join the four winners from Monday night to compete for Best in Show.

Adorned with black puffs and pompoms, the 3-year-old Siba was the absolute picture of what many see as the epitome of a show dog. He was the 15th member of his breed to take the "Best of Show" title.
