Bill Gates buys Porsche EV, Elon Musk calls him 'underwhelming'

Bill Gates co-founded America's most valuable company and has become one of the world's leading philanthropists.

The former CEO and co-founder of Microsoft said his auto is a premium vehicle and he enjoys riding it, but when asked by the YouTuber if he has come across any problem in the new Porsche Taycan that might put people off from buying it, Gates replied that the distance the auto covers in a single recharge does not meet expectations.

Gates responded to the question by complimenting the progress that Tesla has made in creating change not only in the environment but also in the minds of consumers.

Gates announced his all-electric Porsche Taycan purchase in an interview with YouTuber Marques Brownlee when pressed about climate change and the impact that electric vehicles could make.

Elon Musk dissed the Microsoft billionaire in a tweet sent Tuesday, claiming his conversations with the Microsoft founder had been "underwhelming". Gates, however, added that the electric auto, however, has its benefits, including reducing carbon emissions.

While he acknowledged that the electric auto industry has a bright future ahead of it, Gates was also objective enough to mention the challenges that still lie ahead, including the price premium over petrol propulsion (which Gates said would eventually disappear) and range anxiety.

And he said he's enjoying his new electric Porsche.

Even if there is a charging station available, it is more time consuming to recharge an electric vehicle than it is to fill up a gas tank. "Gasoline is very dense energy", he said.
