Disney Parks Closing All Hotels and Stores Amid Coronavirus Concerns

Thousands of people packed Disney World for the final visiting hours before the park closes for the remainder of the month; Phil Keating reports from Orlando on the tourism impact.

Disney announced last week that it would be temporarily closing all of its theme parks around the world in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

While many major theme parks shut down last week to combat the spread of COVID-19, Disney World chose to have a final gathering for THOUSANDS of park goers over the weekend, potentially exposing countless children and senior citizens to the deadly virus.

Shortly after that announcement, Walt Disney World followed suit, announcing that it would be donating excess foods like "fresh salads, greens and expertly cooked hot items" to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

Yikes. Let's hope Mickey and Minnie have been elbow tapping like they're supposed to!

Theme parks are closed through March due to the coronavirus.

Walt Disney World in Florida, Disneyland Paris Resort, and Disneyland Cruise Line are also closing during that period of time.

The Walt Disney Company will pay its Cast Members during this closure period.

Disney also announced early Monday that its company-owned stores at Disney Springs will temporarily shut down Tuesday, and hotels at Walt Disney World in Orlando will close Friday. It was previously announced that Disneyland Resort hotels would remain open until March 16.

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure is scheduled to be closed until the end of March.

"We will continue to monitor the situation and maintain regular contact with appropriate officials and health experts", a spokesperson for Disney told Fox News on Monday of the latest updates.

A few guests were seen at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique location at Disney Springs this morning.
