Fauci urges China to release medical records of Wuhan lab workers

Former US President Trump has said that he was right about his assumption that the "China Virus came from the Wuhan Lab.' "Now everyone, even the so-called 'enemy", is beginning to say that President Trump was right about the China Virus coming from Wuhan Lab", said former US President Donald Trump.

The POTUS added that although the United States intelligence community had "coalesced around two likely scenarios", they had yet to conclude whether the coronavirus emanated from contact between humans and animals, or from a research laboratory in China's Wuhan Institute of Virology. According to the newspaper, this may be a sign that COVID-19 originated in a laboratory.

President Trump said it was "fortunate" that he didn't follow the advice of Dr. Anthony Fauci, following the release of thousands of Fauci's emails as part of a FOIA request by Buzzfeed.

But emails have raised questions on whether he backed Chinese denials of the theory that Covid-19 leaked from a lab in Wuhan.

The origin of the virus is hotly contested, with USA intelligence agencies still examining reports that researchers at a Chinese virology laboratory in Wuhan were seriously ill in 2019 a month before the first COVID-19 cases were reported.

The NIH, which is a U.S. public health agency, gave $600,000 (£425,000) to the Wuhan Institute of Virology from 2014-19 via a grant to the New York-based non-profit group EcoHealth Alliance, for the objective of researching bat coronaviruses.

At a regular Friday briefing, he referred to a March 23 statement from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, stating that staff and graduates had not been confirmed to be infected with the virus.

Fauci "didn't put an emphasis on speed of vaccine production because he thought it would take 3, 4, or maybe even 5 years to create", Trump said.

Peter Daszak, head of EcoHealth Alliance, emailed Dr Fauci in April 2020, praising him as "brave" for seeking to debunk the lab leak theory.

Fauci responded, 'Many thanks for your kind note'.

"I don't think we know what happened in Wuhan". There has also been a renewed focus on the Wuhan researchers who were sent to hospital weeks before the first case of COVID-19 was officially recorded. Anthony Fauci in a radio interview Wednesday, claiming he's invested in a Wuhan lab leak theory being discredited because the USA financed some of the lab's research.

"What did Dr Fauci know about "gain of function" research, and when did he know it?"

"I'm stunned that Fauci would now ask this question", said Asher, who is now at the Hudson Institute, a conservative Washington-based think-tank. Mr Trump wrote in a statement.

In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Collins pointed to a spate of "conspiracy theories" which he said were meant to support claims that China is ostensibly using the coronavirus as part of an "engineered bioweapon".

Trump also called for imposing a hefty fine on China for the death and destruction they have caused due to this "lab leak".

Meanwhile, House of Representatives deputy Republican leader Steve Scalise demanded in a letter that Dr Fauci testify before Congress on the "US government's role in funding research that may have contributed to the development of the novel coronavirus".
