Unrest Erupts After Law Enforcement Task Force Shoots Suspect in Minneapolis

Two sheriff's deputies - one from Hennepin County and one from Ramsey County - were involved in the shooting, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is leading the investigation.

In case there's any remaining doubt that some woke mouthpieces are far more interested in the acts of protesting and rioting than the people they're supposedly standing up for, let's have a look at a video of one protester who hit the streets of Minneapolis Thursday night after us marshals fatally shot 32-year-old Winston Boogie Smith, who was wanted for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was wanted on a "state arrest warrant for possession of a firearm by a felon", per Fox9. "The Associated Press said that "...overall the crowd remained peaceful". "I didn't, I didn't even know about it". State investigators said a handgun and spent cartridge found inside the vehicle indicate that the man also fired his gun.

Before the Thursday shooting, tensions were rising as crews removed concrete barriers around a Minneapolis intersection informally called George Floyd Square, where community members and activists left artwork and flowers in a memorial to Floyd.

People later vandalized "numerous" buildings and looted others, Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said Friday.

Minneapolis saw an outbreak of unrest on Friday night, after a vigil and protests over the shooting death of a man by members of a U.S. Marshals task force devolved into chaotic scenes of looting, arson, and vandalism.

The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms both tweeted that they were responding to help investigate. A female occupant of the auto was treated for minor injuries due to glass debris.

Waylon Hughes, a close friend of Smith, told reporters that Smith loved music, writing comedy skits and posting them on social media. A spokeswoman with the U.S. Marshals said the U.S. Marshals leads the task force, which is comprised of several agencies.

Minneapolis police were not involved in the incident, the newspaper reported. A T-Mobile store and a pharmacy a few blocks down were boarded up and closed indefinitely after having their windows smashed.

The suspect was fatally shot after drawing a handgun and refusing to cooperate. Former police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in April. Former Brooklyn Park Officer Kim Potter is charged with manslaughter in Wright's death.
