Two players scored two goals each (Kane and Son), which spells good things as Spurs chase down Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Tottenham star tweeted after the 6-2 win, with a photo of him celebrating with Son Heung-min sure to bring a smile to the fans' faces.

The emphatic way in which Spurs won, with an outstanding exhibition of passing and movement, raised the inevitable question of whether the title race is simply between Juergen Klopp and Pep Guardiola's teams or if Pocchetino's side are now part of a three-horse race.

Six points still separate Mauricio Pochettino's side from leaders Liverpool, but they closed the gap on champions Manchester City to just two over the weekend. Liverpool have also taken 82 points but from 35 games.

"As I always say when we are at our best we can beat anybody". I think we've done that in recent games against the top clubs, we just haven't been really clinical enough when we've had our chances and we've had a few against the bigger teams.

"We are involved in four competitions, today was a surprise to everyone, not only the quality, but not only the energy to play after a very tough game against Arsenal on Wednesday".

"This guy (Spurs' press officer) became upset again or angry (by questions about United), but we can not talk, we need to be focused on our jobs at Tottenham and do our best to try to be successful".

Tottenham will be hoping that South Korea end up crashing out of the 2019 Asian Cup very quickly, because they will not want Son to be away for very long in January.

Fellow midfielder Moussa Sissoko could be rested after playing all but seven minutes of the last five matches. The striker was sold before the final so didn't get a winner's medal. until now!

Son then grabbed his second and Tottenham's fifth to restore their three goal lead, finishing off a swift attack with a composed finish through the legs of Pickford. There were so many goals in this game that it is hard to choose your favorite. Kane put Everton out of their misery, tucking in a Son cross for his second and the last for Spurs. This is a much easier game than Man City have, in my opinion, and before you know it, they can be challengers.
